Norah Jones: Come Away With Me (140g) (20th Anniversary) (remastered)
Label: Blue Note, 2002
Eight Grammy-winning "Come Away With Me" was Norah Jones' triumphant breakthrough. Now their mature music, inspired by soul and country, gets the rightfully deserved analogue production editing on 200g super silent vinyl. Hits like the most characteristic song on this record, "Don't Know Why", never sounded clearer or more sensual. One closes one's eyes and swears to be in the recording studio as an observer during the creation of the spell. Jones' debut on Blue Note was flawlessly produced by the great Arif Mardin.
Jones, daughter of Ravi Shankar, can't quite be described as a jazz singer, but is accompanied by some highly esteemed jazz talents: guitarists Adam Levy, Adam Rogers, Tony Scherr, Bill Frisell and Kevin Breit; drummers Brian Blade, Dan Rieser and Kenny Wolleson; organist Sam Yahel; accordion player Rob Burger and violinist Jenny Scheinman. The Jones regularly accompanying musicians, guitarist Jesse Harris and bassist Lee Alexander, also play on every track here and are also the authors of most of the songs. Both have a gift for melodious, simple but elegant sequences as well as moving lyrics.Reviews
The presentation with a special inner sleeve, folding cover and a record weighing almost 200 grams is superb. The new mastering adds a icing on the cake to the already good original, is even more transparent, powerful and atmospheric" (Stereo, November 2012)
