With their second album "Communiqué" the Dire Straits once again delivered relaxed rhythms and complex blues guitars. Mark Knopfler and his fellow musicians had established this sound with their debut and continued it seamlessly. Even though "Communiqué" does not contain a hit comparable to "Sultans of Swing", it is a worthy sequel.

MTV may have contributed to the album's enormous success, but it's the excellently crafted songs and the unforgettable instrumental playing of the musicians involved that make it a classic.
