When Eric Clapton swapped his usual Stratocaster for an acoustic Martin in January 1992 to record the now legendary Unplugged album, he was already considered an absolute master of the electric guitar. The live album featured the legendary guitarist accompanied by a small backing band playing acoustic versions of his own songs and some blues standards. After being released the same year, the album became an undisputed blockbuster, selling 19 million copies worldwide and winning six Grammys, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year

Eric Clapton's Unplugged album ensured that acoustic music and "unplugged" albums in particular received huge attention in one fell swoop in the early 90s. Clapton's recording is not only one of the most beautiful unplugged versions but also one of the most honest and heartfelt albums the guitarist has ever recorded

The album sold more than 10 million copies in the US and won several Grammy® Awards, including "Album Of The Year"
